The National Endowment for the Arts’ Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge is a cooperation between the American Theatre Wing and Concord Theatricals, Disney Theatrical Productions, iHeartRadio Broadway, and the NMPA S.O.N.G.S. Foundation.

The Songwriting Challenge is a national competition for high school students who are interested in writing songs for musical theater productions and who are interested in the wide range of musical styles represented in contemporary musical theater, such as hip-hop, rock, R&B, country, jazz, and more.

Students for the Songwriting Challenge will be chosen from throughout the country and partnered with mentors working in the musical theatre industry to help them develop their songs into Broadway-ready compositions through video chats and working sessions.
